2/7/2024 0 Comments Oxo carrot peeler![]() My favorite thing about the OXO Julienne Peeler is that it also Juliennes and makes vegetable ribbons. The blades are sharp enough to get the job done but not so sharp that it will cut off a finger if you accidental get carried away and slip. The angel is great and feel natural while you peel. It has a easy grip comfort handle that makes it easy to control without having to make your knuckles turn white. But out of all the kitchen gadgets I own there are two I can't live without, and one of them is the OXO Julienne Peeler. I have many kitchen gadgets as I am a self professed kitchen gadget queen. True OXO Julienne Peeler is irreplaceable! The wide blade makes peeling quicker and anything that saves time is a plus for my family since I cook very frequently with these ingredients. I also really like the different shape to the peeler. After more than a hundred uses (and I peel a lot of veggies and fruits in my house), it's still like new. It's not too expensive and is extremely sturdy. I think OXO makes great quality products that last and that's why i always resort to the brand when it comes to kitchen appliances and utensils. It's so smooth and easy to handle (left and right-handed members in my family can equally use it with no problem). It didn't peel, but rather grated! This peeler on the other hand is a dream come true. Not to mention, the blade was anything but sharp. the peeler in our house was metal and rusty and the handle was incredible small and had rough edges. I remember being a kid and hating to peel vegetables for my mom growing up. True Hard to believe that one could be passionate about a peeler! I really like the way that the blades are designed and the handle is so much more easy to hold and comfortable than the others are. The handle is so much more comfortable to use, especially if I plan to do a lot of strips. We have several julienne peelers from different companies, and the one I reach for most often is the Good Grips. The blades are still sharp and the hinge is strong. We have had our Julienne Peeler from Good Grips for several years now, use it quite often and it still is going strong. The handle cleans well and does not get any problems with caked on food. If you wait until the pieces dry on the blades, it will be too difficult to clean well. The blade instead of being like a potato peeler has a blade which has a divided blade edge on it as well makes it so that when you peel the vegetable (such as carrot or cucumber for instance) the result is that you get julienne cut strips which are quick to use on salads or in stir fries.Īlthough you have to be careful around the sharp edges of the blade, it is easy enough to clean off the blades if you run them under a quick stream of water, immediately after using. The Julienne Peeler has a large black easy to grip handle. One of the most interesting gizmos that we added to our collection of kitchen gadgets has been the OXO Good Grips Julienne Peeler. I cannot really make it work on apples, but that may be because since childhood I have used the standard peeler for this fruit. Even with the best tool, excessive peeling can cause hand cramps.Īn option to have on hand as an alternative to traditional hand peelers. If I have to work with alot of veggies with peels, I usually bake for a bit to loosen the skin, then scrape it off. I have never seen one break with moderate, home kitchen use. Some cheaper peelers seem to be defeated by raw carrots, squash or potatoes, but the Oxo is fine. I just rinse well as I do not want a cut from the sharp blade. Always be mindful that the blade is sharp and knife/cutter safety rules should be followed. ![]() With practice, determination, and inspiration, you can create creative designs as you peel the fresh produce. It works well on up-down peels like for cucumbers. As we prep, I find the oxo peeler pleasant to use. She has always enjoyed making dishes from raw fresh vegetables and I did not want to see her stuck with just canned or frozen veggies. I purchased this brand to have on hand for an elderly relative who has increasing osteoarthritis of her hands.
